Fees
At Bell & Associates we work with our clients to provide fee structures that fit their time-line and budget and that work within their overall technology-licensing goals. Fees can be structured "per-project" or as hourly billing. Fixed per-project fees are set at the beginning of a project, and are quoted upon the predicted complexity of the case. Here are some examples. A fairly simple mechanical case with few basic embodiments may cost between $2,000 and $5,000. A medium complexity case with several embodiments, some conceptual complexity, and several examples may cost between $6,000 and $9,000. A complex (e.g. biotech) case with many embodiments, sequence listings and considerable conceptual complexity may cost between $10,000 and $20,000. A plant patent application would generally cost $3,500. These examples are provided as a general guideline only.
Patent prosecution (response to an office action) is usually billed at an hourly rate, but as a guide-line we have three broad levels of complexity/cost: Simple $2,000; Medium $4,000; Complex $6,000 (more if highly complex). Incidental work is billed at hourly rate.
Bell & Associates strives to provide the highest level of work at a reasonable rate. Our clients benefit from the efficiency derived from our legal specialization and from our personal attention to all aspects of the work performed. We are always happy to discuss your budget and provide estimates.
